Joining us on Around Grandfather Fire is Eimear Burke, the Chosen Chief of OBOD (Order of Bards, Ovates, and Druids), an international modern Druid organization. She shares with us how she became a Druid, her experiences working with healers from various traditions, and how this dynamic view has changed and informed her life ever since. We ask about the way identity is formed in Druidry as OBOD practices it, and what sustains a healthy Druid practice. We talk what living on the land and developing good relationships looks like. We also explore what being a Chosen Chief and storyteller is like, and how good storytelling honors history, the land, spirits, and each other.Eimear is a practicing Druid, who works as a psychologist and celebrant.As a psychologist, Eimear liaised with and consulted professionals of various disciplines as well as was a guest lecturer on BA and MA courses in Dublin and Tanzania. Eimear was also a board member and chairperson of the Childcare Advisory Committee of Barretstown, an international residential Therapeutic Recreation Camp for children.As a Druid, Eimear has been a member of OBOD (Order of Bards, Ovates, and Druids) since 2003, being made Chosen Chief of OBOD in 2020 after Philip Carr-Gomm.
